The one about the sometimes …

Sometimes we have a hard time. Be it illness, be it family issues, be it unemployment, be it whatever is making you down.  It’s not a competition as to who can be the saddest, or the loneliest, or who’s having the worst time of it all. It’s easy to dismiss others because they don’t know what you’re going through.  Not everyone has the same challenges thrown at them.  I should know.  I didn’t ask for a lot of what I’ve been through.  I can’t relate to some things my friends have been through.

I am grateful for what I’ve been through though.  It taught me things about myself I needed to know.  I learned patience, and that things don’t always have to go to plan.  I am grateful for the true friends that have stuck around and seen me through the hard times and have been that shoulder to cry on.   Sometimes it’s ok to let people see the vulnerable side you have.

Sometimes it’s hard to hear things from other people. Sometimes this can hurt, sometimes this can be the start of a new beginning.

Sometimes things fall out of your hands.  Sometimes things fall into your hands.  Sometimes, life is full of joy and sometimes life is a bastard.

It’s how we deal with the sometimes that make us the people we are.

Thank you to my friends, who are not sometimes people.  They’re real people.  I hope that one day I can be the rock to you guys that you’ve been to me.

Inspired by a conversation with Andrea – and dedicated to her 🙂
